LETTER OF COMMUNICATION
Updated On: Sep 24, 2015

Brothers and Sisters,

I am writing to inform you of some developments within the Local. The IAFF has approved our recent Bylaw changes as voted on by the membership. This approval was made on September 8th, 2015. The IAFF’s role in the approval of Bylaws is to determine that they are consistent with the IAFF’s Constitution and Bylaws. This process can sometimes take up to a month. After speaking with the IAFF Legal Secretary they were happy to expedite the process for us.

With this approval, and at the will of the members, your Executive Board acted on the provisions in Article VI, Section 1. President Haynes communicated with legal firms and the Executive Board has retained the services of Pyle Rome as General Counsel. Pyle Rome is a firm based in Boston. They exclusively represent Labor, and many of their clients are Fire Fighting locals from all parts of the Commonwealth. Your Executive Board has already met with a partner in the firm to discuss the upcoming bargaining process.

The Bargaining Committee has been selected. The first meeting of the committee took place on September 23rd. We hope to meet with The City for our first session in the near future.

The Executive Board position has been filled. A vote was conducted and Michael Dwyer won the election. We want to thank all of you who expressed interest in the Executive Board position. We look forward to your continued interest in the business of our Local.

Fraternally,

Chris Haynes

President, Local 30
